What is an electric bike (e-bike) and how does it work?

An electric bike (e-bike) is a bicycle fitted with an electric motor and a rechargeable battery that assists the rider’s pedalling. The motor does not replace human effort, but amplifies it, making climbs easier and allowing the rider to cover greater distances without excessive fatigue. Most e-bikes offer different levels of assistance (low, medium, high) that the rider can select as needed. The maximum speed with electric assistance is limited by law to 25 km/h in the European Union.

What is the maximum speed of an electric bike?

In the European Union, the maximum speed of electric assistance on general-purpose e-bikes is limited to 25 km/h by regulation. Above this speed, the motor switches off, and the cyclist continues to pedal without assistance. This limitation applies to e-bikes in the BEEQ range and is a legal requirement for riding on cycle paths and public roads, without the need for registration or compulsory insurance.

Do I need a driving licence or insurance for e-bikes in Portugal?

No. Electric bicycles with assistance limited to 25 km/h and a maximum power output of 250 W do not require a driving licence, obligatory insurance,  or registration. They may be ridden on cycle paths, shared lanes and roads where cycling is permitted, subject to the same rules of the Traffic Regulations that apply to conventional bicycles.

What motors are used in Beeq e-bikes?

Beeq e-bikes are fitted with high-quality electric motors selected for their reliability and performance. For detailed technical specifications of each model’s motor (torque (Nm)), please refer to the individual technical data sheet on the E-bikes page of the Beeq website. 

How long does it take to charge the battery of a Beeq e-bike?

The charging time for an e-bike battery usually ranges from 3 to 6 hours, depending on the battery capacity and the charger used. Most users charge their bikes overnight or at work, ensuring sufficient range for their daily journeys. Beeq also offers the option to upgrade the battery on certain models or to purchase an extra battery as an accessory, allowing you to have a spare battery ready to use. 

What is the average range of a Beeq e-bike?

The range of a Beeq e-bike generally varies between 40 km and 100 km per charge, depending on the model, the level of electric assistance used, the rider’s weight and the route profile (flat or hilly). For exact figures by model, please refer to the technical specifications on the E-bikes page.

Which e-bike should I buy?

Choosing a Beeq e-bike might seem complicated, but that’s only because you’ll want one of every type. To find the ideal model, consider:

  • The type of routes you’ll be taking: urban (city), touring (mixed terrain) or mountain (adventure).
  • The type of frame you prefer: open (more practical) or closed (more stable).
  • Motor power: particularly important if your routes include challenging climbs
  • Battery: essential if you plan to go on longer rides.

Where can I test ride a Beeq e-bike?

You can test ride one of our e-bikes at one of our shops (Porto and Lisbon) or at one of our partner locations – check our partners page to find the test ride location nearest to you. In addition, Beeq attends various events where you can also test ride our e-bikes – the calendar is available on our events page.

How do I find out which size is right for me?

You can check the frame sizes and the corresponding height ranges indicated by the "" next to the sizes for all models. 

Important note: the height range is a guide based on the most appropriate riding position, which means that only the tips of your toes should touch the ground when you are sitting on the saddle.

If I try a Beeq e-bike and want it, can I buy it straight away?

The e-bikes in our test drive fleet are not available for sale; however, you can complete your purchase immediately at any of our shops (including online) or through our partners. As our e-bikes are carefully stored, you won’t be able to take the e-bike with you straight away. Choose how you’d like to collect or receive your Beeq, and you’ll be cycling within 5 working days.

Account & Registration

How do I set up my account?

Registering a BEEQ account is quick and easy. Just select "Login/Register", on the top righthand corner of the BEEQ website and follow the instructions. 

We will only collect the necessary elements to contact you and to personalize your service experience.

Do I need to register to order a Beeq bike?

To purchase a Beeq in our shop you will have to register an account. 

The registration process is quick and easy, in the end you will a have a user name and a password that allows us to recognize you and personalize your shopping experience.

Forgot my password, what can I do?

If you can't remember your password follow these simple steps:

1. Go to the login/register area in the top right hadn corner of the page

2. Click in "Click here to recover your password"

3. Introduce your e-mail or ID and then click "Recover Password"

Your new password will be sent to your login e-mail. You should change this password in your user page, in  the personal info section.

How can I track the status of my order?

 

Log in into your BEEQ account with the login and password you used to register.

You will be able to see all the orders you have placed so far, as well as their status.

Can I change my order?

You can change your order items, your delivery address and payments methods directly in your shopping cart.
 
Once an order is placed, we can't make changes to the order. If your payment has not been processed you may still be able to cancel your order and place a new one instead.

How do I cancel my order?

Payment and Shipping

What payment methods does Beeq accept?

To make paying for your order as simple and flexible as possible, we support multiple different payment methods. At the end of the checkout process, you can make your choice between credit card, debit card, bank transfer, PayPal and Cetelem Financing. 
 
If you choose to pay by PayPal you will be redirected to a PayPal safe page to continue payment.
 
It only takes a few minutes for the payment to clear into our account, so that we can process your order straight away.
 

Which countries does Beeq ship e-bikes to?

How much does it cost to ship my order?

You can check and calculate the delivery costs in your order’s shopping basket.

You can choose how you’d like to receive your e-bike – assembled or unassembled – either in the configurator or at checkout. For boxed delivery, the delivery costs are as follows:

  • Portugal (Continental): €49
  • Portugal (Islands): €75
  • Spain (Continental): €69
  • Spain (Balearic Islands): €90
  • France: €69 - Germany: €69

What happens if no one is home when my Beeq e-bike is delivered?

The shipping company will let you know the expected delivery date and time. If no one is available at the time of delivery, you will be notified by email of the delivery attempt. However, a new delivery attempt will be made, and you will be informed of the new delivery date and time. If the second attempt is also unsuccessful, the e-bike will be returned to our factory, and you will be charged for a new shipment.

How does store delivery work?

In-store delivery allows you to collect your Beeq ready to ride, with professional and certified assembly guaranteed. Delivery with assembly is available not only at Beeq stores but also at partner stores. Check our network of partners, who also serve as pick-up points, on the “Partners” page in the menu. If you don’t require assembly, you can also collect your e-bike in a box, pre-assembled.

How long will delivery take?

As soon as we receive payment confirmation, you will receive or collect your e-bike within 5 working days. You can track your order on the shipping company's website at any time.

We aim to process all orders as quickly as possible; however, please note that the estimated delivery time may vary during periods of high demand.

How much assembly is required when my Beeq e-bike arrives?

If you choose to have your Beeq delivered in a box, you’ll need to assemble it yourself. But don’t worry, it’s easier than you might think. You can watch the unboxing video, which includes step-by-step assembly instructions, on the page for the e-bike you’ve chosen.

Returns and Warranty

What is the Beeq return policy?

Because we want you to be 100% satisfied with BEEQ products you can return unused bikes (purchased online) within 30 days of receipt in an simples 4 step process.

Return your order in 4 steps:

1. Register your return by clicking the link to the returns contact form below. 
 
Please be sure to enter your bank account information in the message field so that we can refund your money to an account of your choice. You don't have to do this if you paid with a credit card or via PayPal. 
 
2. When you submit the form, you will receive a confirmation that your return has been registered.
 
3. Pack your bike and any accessories you received securely in the original BEEQ Box, stick and enclose a filled-in returns slip.
 
4. We will then refund your money as soon as we have received and processed your order.

How can I submit a warranty claim?

We believe in the Beeq riding experience, and is extremely important for us that you remain completely satisfied with your Beeq e-bike.

Should issues arise you have 3 years warranty in your E-Bike, and we will be happy to process and resolve your complaint as soon as possible.
